ITC Victoria View is a condominium with 44 apartments. Daylighting and natural cross ventilation which is an effective passive strategy in the Warm-humid climate of Kolkata, have been given due consideration while designing the openings. Insulated walls, roofs and double glazed windows reduce heat gain and increase occupant comfort.

The project located in Bangalore reduces its dependency on electrical grid for energy by letting in ample amount of daylight, using energy efficient BEE 5 star rated appliances and harnessing renewable energy with solar PV and solar hot water system. Ganga Cypress located in Pune is designed to provide the homes with good cross ventilation and daylight. Projecting balconies and other external shading devices obstruct the sunrays from directly falling over the windows to reduce heat gain. 5 Masters’ Residences, near Foothouse, Doon School (GRIHA)

The project consisting of 5 duplex 3 bedroom residences, in Dehradun, planned to take advantage of the shade provided by the trees on the plot. Natural ventilation and daylight inside the residences have been facilitated with shaded fenestrations. Use of energy efficient 4-5 star rated BEE appliances further reduced the electricity consumption.

The need for energy for heating and cooling in the house is reduced by using insulative materials for the wall, windows and roofs. Having roof garden also reduces heat gain. Electricity consumption is further minimised by using Energy efficient HVAC systems and lighting fixtures.

It is a private residence that relies on solar passive design to reduce energy use. Local materials and techniques like thick outer walls, filler slabs have been used for providing insulation. Reduced energy demands are met by solar PV, solar water heaters and solar pumps for pumping water.

The house is designed to respond to the composite climate zone which experiences large climatic swings over the year. The house is developed around a courtyard which facilitates natural ventilation. Placing buffer spaces on the South and West sides and use of local stone as a major construction material helps regulate indoor temperature by reducing heat gain and heat loss.

The project utilized cost effective techniques like proper orientation, natural cross ventilation, shading with overhangs, solar chimneys etc for passive heating and cooling. The buildings were designed to run on renewable solar and wind energy.
