Star Labelling for Energy Efficient Homes Program provides benchmarks to compare the energy efficiency standards in the residential sector. A key objective is to create a transparent instrument over the energy performance of a home which will gradually lead to an effective model taken into consideration while deciding the home prices in the future. The indicator used to benchmark the building performance is Energy Performance Index (EPI) i.e the annual energy consumption per square meter of the built-up area, which will be calculated using this tool for the inputs provided by the users. The Star Labels will be awarded upon final scrutiny of the information by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
